THE STORY
Casey’s Law is a legal provision designed to help individuals suffering from drug or alcohol addiction by allowing families to petition for court-ordered treatment when the person refuses to seek help on their own.
The McCracken County Attorney’s Office plays a crucial role in applying Casey’s Law, serving as a vital resource for individuals and families seeking intervention for loved ones struggling with substance abuse. Their dedicated team navigates the legal complexities involved in court-ordered treatment, ensuring that those who meet the criteria for Casey’s Law receive the help they need.
By guiding families through the necessary steps and legal proceedings, the McCracken County Attorney’s Office helps facilitate access to treatment programs, providing a lifeline for those facing the challenges of addiction. Their commitment to upholding the principles of Casey’s Law underscores their ongoing dedication to community health and recovery.
Socially Present collaborated with Cade Foster, McCracken County Attorney, to develop a logo, educational brochure, and film for the Casey’s Law program, all launched in September 2024 in recognition of National Recovery Month.

Crafting Meaningful Visual Identity
The design process for the Casey’s Law logo began with an in-depth word mapping exercise, where our creative team explored key themes such as recovery, strength, resilience, and overcoming adversity. Through this exploration, we identified common symbols traditionally used in addiction recovery logos—such as doves, sunrise, helping hands, and rooted trees. However, we sought to differentiate Casey’s Law with a more distinctive symbol.
The breakthrough came with the choice of a phoenix, a powerful emblem of rebirth and resilience. Unlike the often-used dove, the phoenix represents a dramatic and transformative journey, aligning with the essence of recovery and renewal. The bird’s flight symbolizes freedom, movement, and positive change, capturing the spirit of those in recovery.
The logo design incorporates blue from the McCracken County Government logo, reinforcing a sense of authority and trust. The circular badge format anchors the design, while a mosaic pattern adds a purposeful yet approachable feel, reflecting the community-focused nature of the program. For typography, we chose a serif font for the Attorney’s Office name to align with the county’s branding, and a sans-serif font for “Casey’s Law” to convey a modern, accessible touch. This combination ensures the logo is both professional and inviting, embodying the mission of Casey’s Law effectively.

Designing a Brochure That Educates and Inspires
For the brochure component of the Casey’s Law project, our goal was to create a clear, informative, and visually compelling resource that effectively communicates the essence of the program. We collaborated closely with Cade Foster and the McCracken County Attorney’s Office to ensure that the brochure not only provided essential information about Casey’s Law but also conveyed a sense of hope and support. By blending engaging visuals with concise, impactful messaging, we aimed to make the brochure a valuable tool for educating the community and guiding those in need through the process of seeking help for loved ones struggling with addiction.

In addition to the logo and brochure, Socially Present produced a compelling film to promote Casey’s Law and provide valuable information to the community. Featuring Cade Foster, McCracken County Attorney, the film offers a thorough introduction to Casey’s Law, detailing the entire process and outlining the steps required for those seeking assistance. Cade Foster’s insightful narration guides viewers through the intricacies of the program, offering practical advice and reassurance to families and individuals who may benefit from this critical resource. The film is designed to be both informative and accessible, ensuring that those in need have a clear understanding of how Casey’s Law can support their journey to recovery.
